Objectives: Students will demonstrate their mastery of topic analysis.

4 Minute Persuasive Speeches, Due

Objective: Students will be introduced to the history of the 'War on Terror.' Students will understand the basic details of the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing and its connection to the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks.

Objective: Students will differentiate between Qualitative and Quantitative research in psychology. Students will demonstrate their understanding of these concepts.

TUESDAY

Objectives: Students will be introduced to policy debate. Students will select a topic for debate that is topical and substantial. Students will review topic analysis

Objectives: Students will analyze the events of 9/11 through primary and secondary sources. Students will understand the course of events that transpired on 9/11

Qualitative vs. Quantitative Research WS, Due

Objective: Students will understand and differentiate qualitative research from quantitative research. Students will begin applying their understanding of quantitative research to a science fair project.

Psychology Science Fair Project, Due in two weeks

 

WEDNESDAY

Objective: Students will conduct research into their debate topic; analyze sources; and organize evidence.

Each group will produce 30 notecards. Each student will be responsible for one claim in support of their team's position. Each claim will need to be supported by at least three separate sources.

Objectives: Students will analyze the motivations of al Qaeda. Students will be introduced to American involvement in the Middle East, particularly Iraq and Afghanistan.
