Matt Haberer son of Jay and Jennifer Haberer was awarded a $3,700 Close-Up scholarship from the Nebraska Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities.
“I am going to Washington D.C!” Matt enthusiastically told his teachers.
Matt was one of the few students selected throughout the state of Nebraska to earn this scholarship for the Close-Up Washington D.C. trip. This scholarship will pay for Matt’s and a support person’s meals, all programing logistics, round-trip transportation (airfare), travel support, and airport transfers in Washington D.C., hotel accommodations, bus transportation around the city, all entrance fees and gratuities, and access to the Close Up staff and educators who oversee this educational experiences.
“Matt has been learning about the government and Washington D.C. throughout the election season. It will be an awesome experience for him to get to see the things we have been talking about.” said Matt’s teacher Mrs. Arens.
Matt will be traveling along with 11 other Crofton students from to Washington, D.C. They will have the opportunity to visit many landmarks, talk to state representatives and learn from a variety of experience.
“The best part about being the Close Up sponsor is getting to watch the students take in all the diverse opportunities Washington, DC presents. I especially look forward to watching Matt take in the sights and make memories on this trip of a lifetime.” said Mr. Hofer the Crofton Close-Up Coordinator.
