Arens Brothers Have Another Impressive Season
Brothers Connor and Tanner Arens have competed in Cross Country for years, just as the rest of their family has. Although the family has a well-known history of runners, Connor insists that they have not influenced why he participates. “I just love to run,” stated Connor. Both brothers are very competitive but use the meets and practices to push each other to the limit. Tanner said that competing with his brother has “provided more motivation to train harder.”. Both feel as if running with their sibling has made themselves better runners individually as well.
The brothers have brought the schools Cross Country team great success in the past as well as the present. In the 2017 D2-2 Districts Cross Country meet Connor placed first in 5,000 meters with a time of 17 minutes and 24 seconds, and Tanner came in second in 5,000 meters with a time of 17 minutes and 26 seconds. Many students on the team got to advance to this year's State meet. Conner placed in eighth place in 5,000 meters with 17 minutes and 33 seconds, and Tanner came in tenth place in 5,000 meters with 17 minutes and 41 seconds.
Cross Country may be scored backwards but the sport is pushing yourself for a great amount of distance as fast as possible, and the Arens brothers have certainly proved this in the 2017 season.
