CHS students go to Mid-State One-Act Festival
This year’s one-act team went to the Mid-State One-Act Festival on Tuesday, November 14. The team went up against eight different teams and placed second overall. The conference was at the Johnny Carson Theater in Norfolk, Nebraska and the Crofton crew took the stage at 11:00 a.m.
The crew did an amazing performance of “That’s Not How I Remember It” by Don Zolidis. They impressed the judges and the spectators that came to watch. Many of the CHS actors got “outstanding performance” recognitions, including Haley Arens, Tyler Janssen, Connor Arens, MaKenzie Mellem, Kaylee Koch, Christian Kleinschmit, Dylan Hoffman, and Kyle Bramschreiber. Gabriel Potts was also selected by the judges as the best supporting male actor across all of the schools that participated.
The crew was very happy with the result of the performance Tuesday. “Both Wayne, who got first and Pierce, who we tied second with, were well deserved of their rankings. Crofton did outstanding as well, the line dividing our show from a second place competitor and first is dependant on our cast’s ability to react and adapt to different stages and slip ups in our lines,” said sophomore Taylor Jansen. The day was an overall success and students feel as if they will do well this season.
For those who wish they could see this performance, Crofton’s Elementary School will have a public performance Nov. 28 and a dinner theater on December 2. District competition will be held at Wayne State college on Nov. 30.
