Crofton Lady Warriors Start the Season With a Big Win


The Crofton Lady Warriors basketball team beat Hartington Cedar Catholic for their first game of the season at home on Thursday, November 30. By a final score of 41- 55, the Lady Warriors beat another preseason ranked Midstate conference foe. Crofton shot over 35% while the Lady Trojans shot under 22%. The Lady Warriors also won the rebound battle pulling down a total of 36 rebounds to Cedar Catholic’s 23 rebounds. Crofton led through most of the tough match, but Cedar Catholic pulled within a bucket early on. After that Crofton pulled away.


“We all played together and as a family, that’s why it went so well” said senior guard Madisen Kube. “I wouldn’t want to play basketball with any other group of girls.”


Leading the way in scoring were Madisen Kube and Lacey Sprakel both scoring 11 points. Following were Josie Sanger and Alexis Arens with nine points. Aubree Potts and Daniel Steffen had six points each, and Ryah Ostermeyer scored three points. Kube, Sanger, and Arens each scored a three pointer.


Crofton also beat Cedar in rebounds, with Arens, Potts and Sprakel pulling down seven each. Sanger had six rebounds, Steffen had five and Kube and Ostermeyer pulled down two each. Leading in assists were Sanger with six and Potts with four. Sanger had seven of Crofton’s 10 steals and Sprakel had two blocked shots.


For the Lady Trojans Anna Reifenrath led the way with 15 points and leading in rebounds was Mallorie Steffen with six.
