Crofton Warriors Take On Boyd County Spartans

The Crofton girls and boys basketball teams took on an annual non conference opponent, facing Boyd County in home matches on Thursday, December 7. The Lady Warriors won their match 46-30 staying undefeated. Crofton greatly outscored Boyd County in the first half, but the Spartans matched up more evenly in the second half of the game.

Leading the Lady Warriors was Alexis Arens with 14 points, followed by Josie Sanger who added nine. Danielle Steffen had five points; Aubree Potts and Lauren Arens added four points each. Finishing out the scoring for the Lady Warriors were Lacey Sprakel and Kaley Einrem with three points each; Madisen Kube and Ryah Ostermeyer with two points a piece.

As a team Crofton pulled down a total of 28 rebounds. Leading rebounders were Alexis Arens with nine boards and Sanger with six. Steffen had five assists and Einrem had three steals. Although Crofton only shot one of four from three point land, the Lady Warriors were perfect from the free throw line hitting seven of seven. Crofton took advantage of 20 Boyd County turnovers. Leading the way for Boyd County were Kelsey Reiman and Emma Stahlecker with eight points each.


The Crofton boys lost their match 55-25. The boys held tough through the first half, but suffered a difficult third quarter with the Spartans outscoring the Warriors 29-3. Crofton went on to outscore Boyd County in the fourth quarter 12-6, but it was too little, too late. The leading scorers for the Warriors were Andy Knapp and Tyler Janssen with five points each. Noah Lancaster and Cody Crosley each added four points; Paul Burbach had three points; Payton Bartels and Connor Dahl each had two points. Janssen was the leading rebounder with nine boards and Knapp pulled down five rebounds. Lancaster had two steals.

Crofton had 21 turnovers to Boyd County’s 11. The leading scorer from Boyd County was Justin Drake with 14 points. Clay Hansen had eight rebounds for the Spartans.
