Dather To Walk Down The Runway Once Again
Crofton High School will be sending one of its very own to a nationally renowned fashion event for the second year in a row. Mariah Dather, a junior, was recently chosen to attend Omaha Fashion Week which will take place on February 27, 2018.
Dather has been a dedicated member of 4-H for many years. Her prom dress, designed and made by Dather, was selected by the organization to be featured at the nation’s fifth largest fashion event.
Not only is Dather actively involved in 4-H, but she is also a member and officer of Crofton’s Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). The same dress was also submitted and selected for Omaha Fashion Week through FCCLA.
“I am honored because there are only four Nebraska FCCLA members that were chosen” said Dather. Because the dress qualified through both organizations, Dather gets to showcase a second dress for the FCCLA entry at the Midwest premier fashion event.
Dather has been influenced to make dresses by her grandma, mom, and aunt. This particular dress was made three years ago. When asked the inspiration behind it she replied, “I needed dresses in my closet.” Though at this time, she does not plan to pursue a career in fashion, Dather anticipates continuing to work with fashion in the future.
