Schools around the area including Crofton, Wynot, Hartington Cedar Catholic and Hartington-Newcastle did not have school Monday, February 19, do to Presidents’ Day.
Presidents’ Day is celebrated on the third Monday of the month of February to honor each president of the United States. This day was made official on George Washington’s day of birth in 1885. The holiday was originally to honor Washington but turned into Presidents’ Day being part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act to help the nation’s workers. All 50 states are a part of this national holiday to represent and celebrate the past, present and future U.S. Presidents.
