Crofton Speech Team Competes at Wayne
Crofton High School’s speech team traveled to Wayne on Saturday, Feb. 8, for the Wayne invite. Crofton came in 6th place overall, out of 23 participating schools. Over 400 entries competed at the Wayne meet, and medals were awarded to the top 18 in each category.
The Oral Interpretation of Drama consisting of Gabriel Potts, Kaylee Koch, Thomas Honeywell, Gavin Potts and Rowdy Hegge were named as the OID champions.
Gabriel Potts and Kaylee Koch took 11th place in Duet Acting. Hope Steffen placed 4th in the Informative Speaking, and Taylor Schieffer secured 8th in finals.
Gavin Potts came in 5th, with his Humorous Prose.
Rowdy Hegge placed 16th in Entertainment Speaking.
Kelsey Schieffer got 16th in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Thomas Honeywell landed 17th for his Serious Prose, and Abby Steffen took 18th.
Kelsey Schieffer placed 8th in Poetry, and Karley Schieffer took 17th.
Finally, Austin Guenther took 13th in Persuasive Speaking.
“I feel like the whole meet was a very good experience, because there was a lot of competition, and it felt really good to have so many of our team place at such a big meet,” junior Hope Steffen commented.
Next the speech team will take part in the Wausa-Osmond meet, in Osmond on Feb. 15.
