Below are the local CHS or area scholarships listed in order of deadline date. More scholarships will be added to this list as they become available so keep checking back! Click on the scholarship title to access the scholarship application. I suggest typing all answers and essays.

The number and dollar amount of these scholarships is determined annually. Applicants must be active member of the CHS Band. The application requests GPA, number of years in band, number of solos and ratings, plus asks for significant contributions and achievements related to band. An essay is required as is a copy of your resume. Applications are to be submitted to Mrs. Leader as specified on the application form.

The foundation annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of rural students for their first year of college or vocational school. All applicants require sponsorship by an NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association member company to be eligible.
FRS has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since its inception; empowering rural students throughout the country to advance their communities with invaluable skill sets and experiences.

Recipients shall be graduating seniors who will be attending a degree-granting college or university. The applicant need not enroll in a program that leads to a Bachelor’s Degree, but rather may wish to pursue a course leading to a Vocational Technical Certificate or an Associate Degree at a community college. Preference may be given to applicants who exhibit excellence in leadership, good citizenship, community activities and service to others.

C.F. & Amelia Mischke Pioneer’s Scholarship Criteria

The scholarships to be granted by the High School shall be awarded based upon the

following criteria:

  • Recipients shall be graduating seniors who will attend a degree-

granting college or university. The applicant need not enroll in a program

leading to a Bachelor’s Degree, but rather may wish to pursue a course

leading to a Vocational Technical Certificate or an Associate Degree at a

community college;

  • Preference may be given to applicants who exhibit excellence in

leadership, good citizenship, community activities, and service to others;

  • Preference may also be given to applicants that are able to

demonstrate financial need. Examples of financial need may include the

following: applicant may have other members of the family in college that

places a financial burden on parents/guardians/grandparents; or having

limited savings due to family financial circumstances; and

  • Applicants who are receiving a Regent Scholarship, Board of Trustee

Scholarship, or Presidents Scholarship are not eligible for this scholarship.

Awards are available to graduating seniors who are customers of Great Plains Communications Applicant must be accepted for admission at a state or private college or two-year trade or technical school in Nebraska or Indiana or to either Northwest Technical Institute in Goodland, KS or Mitchell Technical Institute in Mitchell, SD Applicant must have a strong desire to return to their hometown (or other Great Plains Communications community) to pursue their career

This scholarship is open to CHS graduating seniors who graduated from 8th grade at St. Rose of Lima School, Crofton, NE. Applications need to be submitted to Mary Thoene at St. Rose School or to Mrs. Rossman. by the deadline date.

The Lewis & Clark Natural Resources District provides 2 - $1,000 scholarships to outstanding high school seniors who reside within the LCNRD boundary. The Patefield – Green Scholarship is available to students who intend to pursue an agricultural related career and plan to return to the area and help local communities to conserve and protect our natural resources. The scholarship must go towards at least one year of study in an agriculture related field at a trade school, college, or university.

  • March 4th - Crofton Farm Supply, Inc.

This scholarship is designed for hardworking students going into an agriculture-related field. $150 will be given each semester of the recipient's freshman year.

This very generous scholarship is offered on behalf of Mr. Kevin Schieffer for the purpose of expanding educational opportunity to a student. It is renewable for up to four years with a 3.0 or higher GPA each semester. An essay of one to to pages is required.

This scholarship is specifically designed for those pursuing a degree at a community college or career school and is given in honor of parents who valued education and instilled in their children a strong work ethic and a desire to give to others. This $700 scholarship may be awarded to both a CHS male and female senior and will be renewable for a second year (upon request) with proof of a first year college GPS of 2.5 or higher.

The criteria for this scholarship is broad. Any CHS senior should be eligible to apply. An academic and a personal reference are required. The application requests a short personal explanation of life goals and asks for a summary of activities while in high school including non-school activities.

CHS seniors planning to attend at least two years of higher education are eligible for this $1,000 scholarship. Applications should be turned in to the Guidance Office. If you would like to know the criteria up which your application will be evaluated, click here for that information.

This $250 scholarship (awarded in the second semester of college) is in memory of Brandon Nelson and is to be offered to a CHS senior who has participated in wrestling all four years of high school. Please complete this application and return it to the Guidance Office by March 16th.

Scholarships will be given to students with a specific interest in an agricultural related field of study and an interest in returning to the area after college completion.

Farmers & Merchants State Bank offers a $200 scholarship to one male and one female member of the graduating CHS class. The criteria for these awards is very broad. One of the questions is 'What have you done to improve our community and school?

  • March 22nd -Yankton Medical Clinic-Four $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors within our service area majoring in a health care field. One $1,000 scholarship to a currently enrolled college student majoring in:

    • Nursing

    • Respiratory Therapy

    • Radiology Technician

    • Medical Laboratory Technician

Students must live within our service area and plan to return to work within 50 miles of Yankton. Deadline for all applications is March 22, 2021

$1000.00 will be awarded to the selected student based on a personal statement of the student's choosing that has been submitted and two letters of recommendations from their school counselor(s) and/or other persons whom influenced their decision

to go into their selected field. The personal statement should also include name, address, birth date, and contact number. Additionally, students must provide verification to the selection committee that they have been accepted into a program. Award will be made payable to the recipient. 

The applicant must write an original essay 360-600 words in length.

This scholarship is largely focused on community service activities, events etc.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the scholarships. Those not meeting the requirements will not be considered. • Students are high school seniors, graduating in the spring of 2021. • Students will study an agricultural-related major at a two- or four-year college.

Applicants must be planning a career in wildlife management, conservation or other closely related fields and select a major that will help prepare for the career.

The Crofton High School Booster Club has established two (2) $300.00 scholarship awards to be given to two graduating seniors who have been active in CHS Athletics. This scholarship is to be used within the following year at the college or technical school of their choice. The Booster Club’s scholarship committee will review the applications submitted and choose two recipients. These will be announced at the graduation ceremony. Applicants are to submit the application to the High School Guidance Counselor by Monday, March 25, 2019.

A maximum of two (2) $200 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors of the Crofton FCCLA chapter, who meet the following guidelines and submit their application. The first scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a career in a Family and Consumer Sciences related occupation, and the second to a student with outstanding leadership abilities.The scholarship is payable the second semester of the freshman year of college, and must be requested by the student at that time. A member committee along with the chapter adviser, will choose the recipients. 

  • April 1st-Crofton FFA

  • This scholarship will be given to an FFA member. Turn into Mrs. Mann or Mrs.Rossman.

  • April - Mclntosh Davis Chambers Scholarship

The McIntosh Davis Chambers Scholarship Program at Northeast Community College has been established to recognize academically-promising students from diverse backgrounds. Awardees will receive up to $2,000.00 per academic year.

If you meet the following qualifications and plan to attend or are currently attending one of the Nebraska Community Colleges, you should apply for this scholarship.

  • I have knowledge or experience living or working in a diverse community or organization

  • I am an academically-promising student, active in my school or community

  • I will be a full-time student during 2020-2021

  • I graduated or will graduate from a Nebraska high school, or I have earned a GED

  • I am a U.S. citizen and a Nebraska resident

  • I have financial need based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

This is a $250 scholarship available through Cedar Security Bank for high school seniors planning on attending an accredited college or university. Applicants (or their parents/legal guardians) must maintain a Checking, Savings, Loan, or CD account at Cedar Security Bank – Fordyce, Hartington, or Wynot – to be eligible for consideration. ONE scholarship will be awarded each year.

We wish to emphasize that this scholarship is not limited to those students who will be attending a four-year college program. We encourage all students who will be attending any type of post-secondary education program to apply for this scholarship, including those who are planning to attend a trade, technical or private career school

  • April -First National Bank

Must plan to attend an accredited South Dakota post-secondary institution on a full time basis. Applicant must have a checking account with First National Bank.

Crofton High School applicants must apply for the Blake Woockman Memorial Scholarship by April 15th Recipients of the annual scholarship will be selected from the applicants who are completing their high school education in good academic standing and in the top 25% of their class. Preference will be given to students who participated in competitive speech and/or theater. Enlistment in a branch of the United States military service (regular or reserves) and/or musical talent should also be considered meritorious in selecting a candidate.

  • The Crofton Community Club will award 2-$500 scholarships to graduating seniors at Crofton Community High School. The scholarships are designed for students who have worked hard and represented the school and community well.
